Phishing site takedown service

A phishing site takedown service finds websites impersonating your brand, confirms they’re malicious, warns visitors through browser blocklists, and works with registrars, hosts and proxies until the site is removed. ChainPatrol runs that process as a fully managed service for firms whose customers move money, and shows every case in the app from detection to removal.

How a phishing site takedown works

How a phishing site takedown works

Five steps, run for you.

Five steps, run for you.

01

01

Detect

We find phishing sites through certificate logs, new domain registrations, lookalike permutations, ad and social monitoring, and reports from your customers and staff, in multiple languages.

02

02

Confirm

Each site is checked for the impersonated asset, the harmful action and the infrastructure behind it. Screenshots, URLs and dates are captured in the format each provider requires.

03

03

Block

Once we confirm a malicious website or phishing link, we block it across security integrations, including enterprise DNS filtering, within minutes. Major browsers such as Chrome, Safari and Firefox typically block it within 1–2 hours through Google Safe Browsing, so visitors see a warning while the takedown runs. Blocking applies to web domains and URLs. Fake social profiles and chat accounts are removed through platform takedowns.

04

04

File

We file with the registrar, the host and any proxy in front of the site at the same time. Registrars of generic domains must act promptly on actionable evidence of phishing under ICANN rules, and our direct takedown integrations with some registrars and registries send requests automatically.

05

Follow up

We follow up with platforms until we’ve confirmed each case has been removed, refile automatically when a provider stalls, and escalate from hosts to registrars and registries. When a kit moves to a new domain, we file again, and removed sites are rechecked so enforcement reopens if one comes back.

Blocking and takedown together

Blocking and takedown together

Takedowns can take days when a host is slow. Blocking takes minutes to hours. A phishing site takedown service worth paying for does both, because most of the damage happens in the first hours and one phishing page often serves many fake accounts at once. See blocking vs takedown.

What to expect on timing

What to expect on timing

Blocking times are ours to commit to. Takedown times depend on the registrar, host or proxy. We show every case’s filing date and status, so you can see how long each took rather than relying on an average. Abuse-tolerant hosts, hidden origins and country-code registries outside ICANN’s contracts are the usual reasons a case runs long. See why some phishing takedowns take weeks.

Frequently asked questions

A service that finds websites impersonating your brand, confirms they’re malicious, warns visitors through blocklists and works with registrars, hosts and proxies until the site is removed.

Blocking a confirmed site takes minutes to hours. Removal depends on the provider, from hours for responsive hosts to weeks for abuse-tolerant ones. We show every case’s timing rather than promising a fixed number.

Phishing abuse reports to registrars, hosts and proxies generally don’t. Impersonation and trademark claims with platforms do. See what a letter of authorization is.

Yes. See how to take down a phishing site, step by step. A service matters when the volume, follow-up and blocking are more than your team can run.

Not by itself. Kits move to new domains. Detection keeps watching, removed sites are rechecked, and we file again when a campaign reappears.
