The Problem
MetaMask is one of the most used wallets in crypto, which makes its team and its users a constant target. Scammers set up fake accounts posing as MetaMask staff to build trust in Telegram groups, Facebook pages, LinkedIn profiles, and TikTok, then use that trust to push phishing links. Every fake staff account is a way in, and every phishing site that gets through is a chance at someone’s Secret Recovery Phrase.

The Change
ChainPatrol runs detection and takedowns across the platforms where the impersonation actually happens, Telegram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok, removing fake staff accounts before they can build an audience to scam.
On top of that, ChainPatrol’s blocklist feeds directly into MetaMask’s own browser-level phishing protection. When a user tries to visit a site ChainPatrol has flagged, MetaMask shows a warning before the page even loads. One recent example: a user attempting to visit zksync-events.com was shown a “This website might be harmful” warning, flagging the site for Secret Recovery Phrase and password theft, malicious transactions, and confirming it was listed on the blocklists of SEAL, ChainPatrol, and MetaMask. The user could back out to safety before ever reaching the page.
