How ChainPatrol works

  • Find: We monitor for impersonation of your brand across social platforms, messaging apps like Telegram and Discord, domains, app stores and ads.

  • Block: When a fake sends people to a wallet-drainer or credential-phishing site, we get the confirmed site flagged in 20+ wallets, including MetaMask, Phantom and Coinbase Wallet, usually within minutes, and in browsers through Google Safe Browsing, usually within a few hours, so customers see a warning while the takedown runs. Blocking applies to web domains and URLs; fake social profiles and chat accounts are removed through platform takedowns.

  • File: We file takedowns with platforms, hosts and registrars on your behalf, with the evidence each one asks for.

  • Follow up: We follow up with platforms on every case, and escalate and re-file whenever a provider stalls or rejects.

  • Ongoing reporting and visibility: You can follow every case in the ChainPatrol app as it moves, including what’s been removed, what’s still live and why, and what’s waiting on your approval. Each month you also get a summary of threat volumes, takedowns and trends.

Automation handles high-volume threats at scale. When a case needs judgment, such as a fan account, a staff profile or a case that stalls, our operations team takes it. Some decisions come back to you for a quick approval in Slack or email, and you can keep an approval step on for everything if you prefer.

The impersonation that takes the most specialized work is the kind that doesn’t live on a website, such as fake support accounts replying to your customers on X, fake admins in your Telegram group and cloned Discord servers. Those require platform reports rather than registrar requests, and sustained enforcement. Read why Telegram takedowns are slower for a closer look at the hardest one.

How Netcraft works

Netcraft says it has delivered phishing protection and takedowns for more than two decades and takes down about a third of the world’s phishing attacks. Its site describes automated takedowns that gather evidence, identify the providers behind an attack and work through relationships with hosts and registrars, with access to the phishing site blocked through Netcraft’s feeds while the takedown is underway. Netcraft states a median phishing takedown time of 33 minutes, and it also offers social media monitoring, including executive impersonation.

On G2, Netcraft is rated 4.6 out of 5, with most reviews from enterprise companies. Reviewers praise its speed and accuracy and a straightforward setup; one reviewer found the pricing model hard to understand.

Where they overlap

Both take down phishing sites and lookalike domains, both block malicious and phishing sites while takedowns run, and both combine automation with human review. The difference is center of gravity. Netcraft’s is the phishing site, and ours is the impersonation of your company wherever your customers meet it.

Which one fits

  • Choose Netcraft if your main problem is a high volume of phishing sites and lookalike domains, and you want a specialist with deep host and registrar relationships.

  • Choose ChainPatrol if your impersonation problem spans fake accounts on X, Telegram and Discord as well as domains, and you want one managed service that files, follows up and reports on all of it.

  • Use both if you already rely on Netcraft for phishing domains and need social and messaging impersonation handled too.
