Bolster vs ChainPatrol for brand impersonation
Bolster leads with AI-automated takedowns. ChainPatrol pairs automation with an operations team and live case tracking. How the two approaches differ.

ChainPatrol
Team
Bolster leads with automation, using AI detection and API-driven takedowns with hosting providers, registrars and platforms. ChainPatrol uses automation too, but sells the outcome. It is a fully managed service where an operations team handles the complex cases and follows up on every case, showing which cases are resolved and which threats are still up in the ChainPatrol app and a monthly report.
A note before we start. We make ChainPatrol, so read this knowing where we sit. Everything we say about other vendors comes from their own websites and from verified reviews on G2, listed at the end. If something here is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

How ChainPatrol works
Find: We monitor for impersonation of your brand across social platforms, messaging apps like Telegram and Discord, domains, app stores and ads.
Block: When a fake sends people to a wallet-drainer or credential-phishing site, we get the confirmed site flagged in 20+ wallets, including MetaMask, Phantom and Coinbase Wallet, usually within minutes, and in browsers through Google Safe Browsing, usually within a few hours, so customers see a warning while the takedown runs. Blocking applies to web domains and URLs; fake social profiles and chat accounts are removed through platform takedowns.
File: We file takedowns with platforms, hosts and registrars on your behalf, with the evidence each one asks for.
Follow up: We follow up with platforms on every case, and escalate and re-file whenever a provider stalls or rejects.
Ongoing reporting and visibility: You can follow every case in the ChainPatrol app as it moves, including what’s been removed, what’s still live and why, and what’s waiting on your approval. Each month you also get a summary of threat volumes, takedowns and trends.
Automation handles high-volume threats at scale. When a case needs judgment, such as a fan account, a staff profile or a case that stalls, our operations team takes it. Some decisions come back to you for a quick approval in Slack or email, and you can keep an approval step on for everything if you prefer.
Our view is that automation is necessary but not sufficient. Automated systems handle standard volume. The cases they cannot close, such as an unresponsive platform, a reactivated Telegram bot or an account that may belong to a genuine fan, are where our operations team takes over.
How Bolster works
Bolster describes an AI-powered platform that monitors domains, social media, app stores and the dark web, and automates takedowns through direct integrations with hosting providers, registrars and social platforms. It says 75% of its takedowns happen within minutes through those APIs, that it uses LLMs to automate takedown requests and correspondence, and that it monitors sites and accounts after takedown so they don’t return. Bolster also offers CheckPhish, a free URL scanning tool, and says on G2 that it was founded in 2017 and is based in Los Altos, California.
On G2, Bolster is rated 4.5 out of 5, though from fewer than ten reviews at the time of writing, so treat that as an early signal.
Automation first or ownership first?
Both companies use AI, and both have people involved. The difference is what you’re buying. Bolster’s pitch is automation speed. Ours is that someone owns every case, and you can see which are still live and why.
Which one fits
Choose Bolster if you want an automation-first platform, high-volume website takedowns, and a free scanner your team can use day to day.
Choose ChainPatrol if you want a managed service that handles the hard cases as well as the easy ones, covers fake support on X, Telegram and Discord, and shows threats that are still up, blocked sites and cases awaiting your approval in the ChainPatrol app, with a monthly report.
Use both if Bolster handles your website volume and you want social and messaging impersonation run as a managed service.
